The Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda is dedicated to elevating the standards of early childhood education and professional development within the community. Emerging from Union Square Productions, which provided professional training from 2017 to 2020 in collaboration with the Child Development Program, the Foundation builds on a strong history of impactful initiatives.
Investing in early childhood education is investing in the future of Bermuda, and we remain steadfast in our mission to empower educators, enrich learning environments, and advocate for the youngest members of our community.

Althea P. Saltus is the founder and executive director of The Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda. Ms. Saltus has a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development, a Certificate in Supervisory Management and Non-profit Management, and a Certified Nonprofit Professional credential from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. She has been an Early Childhood Educator for over 25 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the early childhood field.

At the Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda, our Board of Directors is a hands-on, working board made up of passionate community members who believe deeply in the importance of early childhood education. Our board members don’t just guide the vision of the Foundation — they actively contribute their time, skills, and energy to support the day-to-day work of the organization.

Deandrea Easton, Treasurer
Deandrea Easton brings a wealth of practical administrative experience from her work within the non-profit sector. She has supported several charitable organizations through administrative and bookkeeping roles and is currently working toward her Accounting certification through the ACCA programme. As a member of the Board, Deandrea contributes her organizational skills, financial insight, and commitment to strengthening the Foundation’s operations and sustainability.
Karim Creary, Compliance Officer/Lawyer
Karim Creary is an Associate Lawyer in the Corporate Department at Appleby (Bermuda) Limited. He brings a strong commitment to community service and has been actively involved in charitable initiatives across the island, including work with Generation Next, fundraising support for Betta Dais, and volunteering with Bermuda Is Love. As a member of the Board, Karim contributes his legal expertise and community-focused perspective to support the Foundation’s mission and ongoing work.
Davika Hill, Public Relations
Davika Hill has over a decade of leadership experience in early childhood care and education, having worked in senior roles supporting children, families, and educators in Bermuda. She is deeply passionate about high-quality, child-centered care and the vital role early childhood educators play in shaping lifelong learning. As a member of the Board, Davika contributes hands-on support through website development, social media management, and communications, helping to strengthen the Foundation’s outreach and connection with the community.
Elfreda Smith, Volunteer Coordinator
Elfreda Smith is a recent retiree of the Child Development Programme, where she dedicated 49 years to serving families in Bermuda through the Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP). Throughout her career, she supported parents and young children by promoting positive parent-child interaction and strengthening early bonding relationships. As a member of the Board, Elfreda brings deep experience, wisdom, and a lifelong commitment to supporting families and early childhood development.
